How to log strength sets, rest timers, and circuits
Complete sets with one tap, label warmups and drop sets, control rest at four levels, and group exercises into circuits without losing what you already logged.
Logging a lifting session should take less attention than the lifting. In TandemFit, each exercise is a card and each row on that card is a set. You tap to complete a set, the rest countdown starts, and you move on. Everything else, from circuits to exercise swaps, happens from the same screen.
What does a strength workout look like on screen?
Each exercise card shows a table of sets. The columns depend on how that exercise is tracked: weight and reps, time, distance, or a mix. A plank does not need a weight column, and a farmer carry may need distance.
Tap any value to change reps, weight, time, or distance. You can edit a set before or after you complete it.
How do I complete a set?
Tap the circle checkmark at the right of the set row. Completing a set locks in the best known values for that row. If a field was left blank, TandemFit can use the template value or the previous set, so you are not forced to type the same numbers every time.
Completing a set also starts the rest countdown when that set has a rest time above zero.
How does rest time work?
Rest can be set at four levels, from broadest to most specific:
- User level is your global default.
- Workout level is the fallback for this workout.
- Exercise level overrides the workout for one exercise.
- Set level controls the countdown after that exact set.
The most specific setting wins. That lets you keep a short default for accessories while giving heavy compound sets a longer break.
Can I add sets or label warmups and drop sets?
Tap Add Set at the bottom of an exercise to append another set. Swipe a set row left to delete it. If you delete the last set on a card, the exercise is removed from the workout.
To label a set, tap the set number or abbreviation at the left of the row. You can mark it as a warmup, regular, drop set, failure, or another supported set type. Labels make it easier to read the session later, when a warmup should not look like your working weight.
How do I build a circuit or superset?
Open an exercise menu, choose Add to Circuit, select the exercises that belong together, and save. Circuit exercises stay grouped and show a shared circuit marker.
You can also drag an exercise card or a grouped circuit to change the order. Reordering changes where a card appears; it does not change the set values you already logged.
What if the equipment I planned on is taken?
Open the exercise menu and choose Swap Exercise, then pick the replacement from the exercise list. The active workout keeps going while that movement is replaced. This is useful in a busy gym or when a template was written for equipment your location does not have. For more on how gym context shapes a plan, see gym-aware workout tracking.
How do I finish?
Tap Finish after at least one set is complete. Review is where you clean up the workout title, notes, effort, gym, and media before the final save.
Practice without logging a real workout
The strength walkthrough opens a sandbox workout that goes through each action in order: editing targets, completing sets, adding sets, changing set types, rest timers, circuits, reordering, and swapping. The sandbox is cleared when you exit. Open it from Profile, Settings, FAQ, and search for strength tracking. During the demo, the ? in the active workout header lets you continue, restart, open FAQs, or leave.
If you also run or ride, the same history holds those sessions too; see keeping lifting, runs, and rides in one training log.
