Create a workout template from video, text, or a photo
Smart Import turns a YouTube workout, pasted plan, or photo of a workout into a draft template you can review before saving.
Plenty of good workouts start outside a fitness app: a YouTube follow-along, a plan a coach sent by text, a whiteboard at the gym. Smart Import turns those into a draft TandemFit template you can review, correct, and start again later. You always see a preview first, and nothing replaces your draft until you tap Apply.
Where is Smart Import?
Create a template from Workouts, then My Templates, and tap +. In the template's Workout Settings, expand Smart Import and choose YouTube, Text, or Smart Scan for a photo.
How do I import a YouTube workout?
Paste a YouTube workout link into the YouTube field. A public video with enough exercise detail works best. Tap the sparkles button, and TandemFit builds a preview with a title, duration, exercise matches, custom exercise hints, and required equipment.
Open the preview card to check each exercise, its timing marker, notes, and equipment match. The import keeps YouTube source links on supported exercises, so you can trace a generated movement back to the moment in the video.
How do I import workout notes as text?
Choose Text and paste the workout: exercises, set schemes, reps, durations, distances, rest notes, circuits, or coaching instructions. Tap Import Text to get a preview with matched exercises, sets, notes, and equipment needs.
Clean, line-separated notes produce better previews than paragraphs where it is unclear where one exercise ends and the next begins. If you copy from a spreadsheet or a message thread, a quick tidy before pasting pays off.
How do I import a photo of a workout?
Choose Smart Scan. Use Scan to take a photo, or Upload to pick an existing image such as a screenshot, a printed plan, or a notebook page. Before importing, make sure the text is sharp, upright, well lit, and not hidden by glare or cropped edges.
Tap Import Photo, then open the preview to check what was read and matched. If the scan misses details, retake the photo closer, flatter, and brighter, or switch to Text and type the corrections yourself.
What should I check before applying?
Every import path produces a preview, and the preview is where mistakes are cheapest to catch. Look at:
- ambiguous exercise matches
- generated custom exercises
- sets, rest, and set types
- circuits
- required equipment
If equipment is missing, you can mark it as available at home or report it for the selected gym when those options apply.
When the preview looks close, tap Apply. If the draft already has exercises, you will be asked to confirm, because applying replaces them.
Finish the template by hand
An import gets you a structure, not a finished plan. After applying, edit the title, duration, gym, notes, exercise order, circuits, and set values so the template reflects how you will actually train. Then save it. It appears in My Templates, ready to start.
Try it with a guided walkthrough
Each import path has its own walkthrough that opens a fresh draft with Smart Import already set to the right mode. Find them in Profile, Settings, FAQ under the template questions.
